17 February 2010

Dear Friends,
It is the time of year where Vietnamese start from scratch. It is the New Year! On the 14th of February, when people around the world were celebrating romance, people in Vietnam were ringing in the new year. Tet, also know as the Vietnamese New Year, is celebrated for a few days, with many visits to friends and family, food, and gifts. I had the opportunity to spend time with many of my friends during this time.
I also had a bit of time to relax. Not for long, though!
I was talking to a mobility teacher in the US, and she had a wonderful suggestion for helping blind pedestrians to cope with the chaotic traffic.
Some of you might be familiar with pedflags, or flags that can be carried across busy intersections. The idea is to adapt these flags for the visually impaired. I think these flags would be a great innovation here and make it easier for blind people to feel more at ease among Vietnam's hectic traffic.
Over the next few days, we will be discussing our next project. Please check back in a few days for more details.
Till next time,
